Frequently asked questions and answers

An indie game dev studio is an independent team, ranging from a single person to a small group, that creates video games without the financial or creative control of a large, established publisher.

The “indie” (short for independent) distinction is defined by three main characteristics:

  1. Creative Freedom: We are not bound by the market expectations or executive oversight of a publisher. This allows us to experiment with unique art styles, innovative gameplay mechanics, and unconventional stories that larger studios might consider too risky.

  2. Small Team Size: Most indie studios are small, meaning team members often fill multiple roles (e.g., a programmer who also does sound design). This contrasts with large “AAA” studios, which have hundreds of specialized employees.

  3. Limited Budget: Indie studios typically work with much smaller budgets, often relying on personal funds, crowdfunding (like Kickstarter), or small investors. This financial constraint is a driving force behind their creative and efficient approach to design. In our case, we are currently self-funded.

In short, an indie studio prioritizes a unique vision and creative passion, which can often lead to highly personal and innovative games.

We use a variety of tools to develop our projects. Primarily we work in Unreal Engine 5, giving us the ability to tell engaging stories with higher fidelity, leading to more immersive experiences.

We are primarily focused on the PC market (and may eventually release mobile versions of some games). We will target console releases in the future as well, however there are a lot more hoops we have to jump through for those platforms and our resources are extremely limited.

We are working on setting up donation platforms as well as looking at additional avenues like patreon. We will post announcements when those are available.
